Non-hockey materials

This is the hosting spot for materials which generally have very little to do with street hockey, such as a class on Galatians and a CS Lewis reading group. However, such things have been known to serve as rather fine accompaniment for hockey, similar to the mutually beneficial relation between antelopes and cantaloupes.

Can of Worms Night
This is from our Can of Worms Night in August 2012. Various wormy topics such as tradition, sexuality, denominations, the biblical canon (canonical nonsense), free will, and Luke Newman’s physical appearance are discussed here.

Epistle to Diognetus (also known as Judah and friends)
A short class on the Epistle to Diognetus, a wonderful apology from the second century. Includes historical introduction, reading of the text, analysis and commentary, as well as random man interrupting to inquire regarding the provenance of a t-shirt.

Lewis and friends
These recordings are our discussions and questions from C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity. If you are reading through the book, these can be like a small cherry on top of the best sundae ever!

1.2, Some Objections

1.3, The Reality of the Law [Constantine and such]

2.3, The Shocking Alternative; 2.4, The Perfect Penitent

2.5, The Practical Conclusion [including baptism, faith, holy communion, and an unexpected visit from sock puppets]; 3.1, The Three Parts of Morality

3.2, The Cardinal Virtues [with discussions on justification and women & equality]

3.3, Social Morality; 3.4, Morality and Psychoanalysis

3.5, Sexual Morality; 3.6, Christian Marriage

These recordings are from a class on Galatians spread over three days, which goes through the Greek text and features delightful vocal interludes from Nick Harral and Luke Newman (and other surprise guest appearances, such as Zazoo from the Lion King!).
